Witness and Service

The dates for this year’s Camp Viola are June 27th – July 1st.  We will sponsor, staff, and supervise an overnight camp with a Christian emphasis for underprivileged youth to attend at no cost.   We appreciate the partnership with Loyd Presbyterian Church, and plans are being made now!  Coleman Vice and Lorri Whitney have again committed to lead as Co-Directors and will soon begin the application process for Youth Counselors.  Volunteers will also be needed for the many various elements of camp.  If you have an interest in participating in one of the primary external missions of First Presbyterian, please send an email to wendy.zwilling@mindspring.com or contact the church office.

Camp Viola Work Day:  On Saturday, April 17th, there will be a clean-up day at Camp Viola to help prepare them for the spring and summer camp season.  Adults and Youth, if you are available to work, meet at the church at 8:30 a.m. to ride the church bus or meet at Camp Viola at 9:00 a.m.

The Thursday lunch program needs your help.  We have an immediate need for volunteers.  This extremely important ministry serves meals in our fellowship hall and delivers meals to homebound seniors every Thursday.  It is staffed by volunteers.  Our volunteers come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and abilities.  With so many different jobs available, there is something for everyone’s strengths and schedule.   Give us three hours a week or one hour a quarter.  We are looking for drivers, substitute drivers, servers, substitute servers, program coordinator, and assistant program coordinator.  These positions are easy, fun, and extremely fulfilling.  If you have a desire to serve others and are available just a few hours a week, this is the place for you.  Please contact Betti Martin at (706) 882-7991 or bjmartin@bellsouth.net.
