Bill and Clare Conine came to First Presbyterian in 2000, when Bill was called to serve as Parish Associate at the church. During his time on staff, Bill preached, taught Sunday school and Wednesday night classes, and was a welcome presence to many a hospital patient and home-bound member. In addition to his pastoral presence, Bill was a master bass fisherman who shared his expertise with anglers through classes, trips, and the treasured rods he made himself. Bill’s calm and dignified battle with cancer was his final inspirational gift to the congregation.

Clare continues as an active and valued member of First. Over her 20 years at FPC, Clare has been active in the Women of the Church, Vacation Bible School, Thursday lunch program, and the Berta Weathersbee Elementary School partnership. Clare is also a trained Stephen Minister and teaches a Wednesday night Bible study.

The Conine Society

Named in honor of Bill and Clare, The Conine Society is a means by which church and community members may include First Presbyterian in their planned giving. Legacy gifts — including bequests in a will, partial or full beneficiary designations for your retirement accounts and life insurance policies, or real estate assets — will support the church’s endowment fund, which will in turn support the ongoing ministry and mission of First Presbyterian. You may even designate your gift to support specific ministries, such as (but not limited to) the church’s music program, outreach to young people, or capital building projects.
